AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Nugget, the first facility dog at Wellstar Children’s Hospital of Georgia, has retired after eight years of helping young patients through medical procedures and treatments.
The 10-year-old dog and her handler, Harleigh Smith, joined the hospital in 2017, establishing the Wellstar Children’s facility dog care program. A staff retirement party was held to honor Nugget’s service.
