WINDSOR, Conn. — Two men were arrested Wednesday after the attempted theft of an exit sign on Interstate 91 in Windsor , according to Connecticut State Police.

Troopers went to I-91 north near exit 37, just before 8:30 a.m., for a report about a larceny involving a state Department of Transportation exit sign. CTDOT spokesperson Eva Zymaris said that the sign had been knocked down recently in a crash.

The CTDOT Highway Operations team saw the theft in progress and immediately reported it to state police, Zymaris said.

Troopers arrested Jonathan Riopelle, 46, of Vernon and Andrew Lampkin, 42, of Vernon.

Riopelle and Lampkin are facing charges of larceny in the third degree, reckless use of highway by a pedestrian and improper parking on highway. They were released after posting bond a
