TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol says a man is dead after his motorcycle collided with a fallen tree Wednesday evening in Tuscarawas County .
According to a press release, 47-year-old Michael McHale was riding north on County Road 66 in Union Township when, just after 7 p.m., his bike struck a tree that had fallen across the roadway. The motorcycle then flipped over and went off the right side of the street.
McHale, a Mineral City native, was taken by ambulance to Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital before being airlifted to Cleveland Clinic Akron General. Though he was wearing a helmet when his bike crashed, he died at the hospital from his injuries.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
