SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - The family of Osage Beach police officer Phylicia Carson has reached a $100,000 settlement in their wrongful death lawsuit.

Carson died in the summer of 2024 when her patrol car crashed during a pursuit of a vehicle that fled a traffic stop. The settlement requires Christopher Wehmeyer and his insurance company to pay Carson’s family $100,000 before attorney fees.

Wehmeyer faces charges of second-degree murder, aggravated fleeing a stop, and drug possession in connection with Carson’s death. Investigators said Wehmeyer told them he had started racing a friend and sped away from officers to avoid traffic charges. The pursuit ended when Carson’s patrol vehicle crashed, killing the officer.
