ROCHESTER, Minn. - The winter season is quickly approaching and that means that snow is in the future.

MnDOT advises drivers to turn on their headlights and reduce speed, especially in slick conditions, to make sure that they are visible to snowplow operators.

Drivers should also keep a distance of about 10 vehicle lengths behind a working snowplow and make sure to not go around it. The road behind the plow is in better condition than the one in front of it.

Regardless of the season, MnDOT emphasizes the importance of staying attentive on the road. For those concerned about road conditions, MnDOT offers resources like 511 where real-time updates on road conditions are available.
