WAHOO, Neb. (KOLN) - The city of Wahoo has extended its boil water order to Monday, Nov. 10 due to an unexpected delay.

The city issued the boil order on Tuesday after E. coli bacteria was found in the water.

The city originally planned to lift the notice by Thursday, but the start of chlorination was delayed by 24 hours at the direction of the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy to ensure compliance with drinking water regulations.

According to the Thursday release, chlorination is now fully underway, and chlorine residual levels throughout the community are above the minimum recommended level of 0.2 mg/L.

As part of state and federal requirements, the city must collect 25 water samples throughout Wahoo on two consecutive days (50 total samples) showing no presence of E. c
