BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -With over 600,000 Kentuckians utilizing SNAP benefits and one-third of that population being children, some local restaurants are choosing to help in their own way during the benefit pause, including Bowling Green’s Chicken Salad Chick.
The restaurant is offering free children’s meals to kids who come in through Nov. 16, no questions asked.
“We are just called to give. We’re called to help out, and this is just our way of giving back. At Chicken Salad Chick, our motto and our personal statement is to spread joy, enrich lives, and serve others, and this is just an extension of that,” said Chicken Salad Chick owner Hannah Witherspoon.
Witherspoon said over 100 children have been served at her restaurant’s locations in Evansville, Owensboro, and Bowling Green sin
