SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The South Dakota High School Football season is coming to a close soon, with semifinal games kicking off Friday.
Teams still in the competition for state titles just wrapped up a three-week stretch of Thursday games, meaning some are making cross-state trips and returning that evening for classes the next morning.
Originally, that stretch of games leading up to the state championships was held on a Thursday-Tuesday-Monday-Saturday schedule. However, SDHSAA Executive Director Dan Swartos said that was changed due to new findings on concussions, and to try to space games apart as much as possible.
