LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS) Secretary Janet Mann addressed lawmakers on Thursday afternoon to give an update on what was happening as the federal government shutdown continues.
"We are delaying furlough until November 22 or later," Secretary Mann explained.
The news came after the DHS made an announcement last Friday that people should expect furloughs and disruptions to "critical funds' — including supplemental nutrition assistance programs (SNAP).
"We actually had news that we were going to pay benefits at 50% this morning, we got guidance that it was at 65%," Mann said. "It's not going to be 100% but it is better than nothing."
