NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A road with a troubling history is getting some road safety improvements through a new grant.
On Tuesday, Metro Council approved the acceptance of Safe Streets for All grant funding from the U.S Department of Transportation. That funding will address safety issues along Nolensville Pike related to missing walking, biking and transit facilities. It will also start addressing the need for pedestrian lighting and a lack of crosswalks in the project area.
This grant will cover a 2.5-mile stretch of Nolensville Pike from McCall Street to Haywood Lane. Metro councilmembers applied for the grant several years ago, and they’ve just began implementation. Once the improvements are complete, council leaders are expecting a major improvement in the safety of the road.
