SALT LAKE CITY — Elder Gérald Caussé, a native of France and the former Presiding Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was called and ordained as the newest member of the Church’s Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of on Thursday.

Elder Caussé, 62, was ordained by President Dallin H. Oaks and the other members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. The Quorum is the second-highest presiding body in the Church, with its members serving as special witnesses of Christ and overseeing the administrative functions of the global faith.

"I’ve always had a testimony of Jesus Christ," Elder Caussé said Thursday. "I know Jesus Christ lives. And I know He’s our Savior and Redeemer. What a wonderful thing it is to be a witness of Christ."
