HEBRON, Ky. —

Travelers at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport could soon face delays or cancellations as the Federal Aviation Administration prepares to reduce flights at 40 of the nation’s busiest airports in response to the ongoing government shutdown.

The FAA says the reductions, expected to begin as soon as Friday, are necessary to maintain safety while many federal employees continue to work without pay. At CVG, travelers on Thursday said they were relieved to be flying out before the cuts begin, but concerned about getting back home. Advertisement

“As far as coming back, I’m not sure how that is going to be,” said Patricia Miles, who was flying with her family to the Bahamas. “If there’s going to be a reduction, are we going to be delayed, set back, or what?”
