KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- An employee for the City of Holden, Missouri is now facing charges following an investigation for possible misconduct.

Johnson County, Missouri Prosecutor Robert Russell on Thursday charged Trista Garrett, the city treasurer, with two felonies of stealing over $25,000 and identity theft.

The charges and investigation are connected to the alleged misuse of a City of Holden credit card.

Investigators have uncovered unauthorized personal transactions made with City of Holden credit cards, with preliminary findings suggesting these expenses may exceed $100,000, according to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office said Garrett surrendered herself to the Johnson County Jail and posted the $10,000 cash-only bond.
