Former Liberal leader John Hewson has fanned the fire underneath Sussan Ley’s leadership, after a senior Senator broke ranks to condemn her performance.
Mr Hewson, who dumped his party membership in 2019 over its climate policy, said Ms Ley and her party had not been serious about criticising or offering policy from opposition.
He said Ms Ley lacked attributes requisite to be a federal party leader.
“She hasn’t shown any clear strategy, or any strong capacity in terms of leadership,” he told the AAP on Friday.
He also claimed the party was bereft of representatives with sufficient private sector experience.
“They haven’t got people with significant business experience... I don’t think that they’ve got people who are policy wonks in economic policy.”
