MARION, Va. (WJHL) — A man charged in connection with a May 2024 shooting at the Marion farmers market was convicted on Thursday.
Andre Douglas Hickman, 21, of Tazewell, Virginia, was convicted of aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, according to the Smyth County commonwealth's attorney's office.
On May 3, 2024, Hickman, who was 20 years old, shot a 17-year-old in the abdomen. The victim survived the incident, according to the commonwealth's attorney's office.
Marion police previously reported that Hickman was 19 at the time of the shooting.
As part of the conviction, the victim from the altercation received a lifetime order of protection against Hickman.
Hickman's sentencing hearing is scheduled for Feb 12, 2026.
