Flooded homes and impassable roads have become a familiar sight for residents in parts of Daytona Beach.

For people living in neighborhoods like Fairway Estates, heavy rain often leads to more than just standing water. It can cause sewage backups that spill into yards, driveways and even homes.

"We need help with the flooding," said Sonja Butler, a longtime Daytona Beach resident.

Butler said her home has flooded several times, and each time, the damage and the smell are hard to forget.

"The water, when it got deep in the house, I mean, we were walking through raw sewage," she said. "There was sewage out in the driveway, down the street, in the yard. It looked horrible. You saw pieces of all kinds of stuff floating around."
