TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A vote passed in the city of Troy on Thursday night that will move city hall to the historic Proctor's Theatre. The city previously said it would not be renewing its current lease at River Street.
Proctor’s Theatre first opened in 1914, showcasing vaudeville and other theatrical performances for decades. In addition to hosting government operations, the city said the theater will also act as a multi-use space for both current and new tenants.
“It will be a welcoming hub for civic engagement, public gathering and collaboration,” Troy Mayor Carmella Mantello previously said. “We envision spaces where local artists can showcase their work, nonprofits can host, various neighborhood groups can meet, community events, and residents can come together in meaningful ways.”
