ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Thursday, Helios Health celebrated the opening of its Comprehensive Outpatient program, addressing the needs of individuals seeking treatment for substance use and opioid-related issues.
"These programs are really about integrating services so that it's improving access to services for people, improving access to medication treatment, particularly methadone, and that's never been more important than it is now. We know methadone is effective. It reduces the risk of an overdose by fifty percent. I'm a physician, and I can tell you there are not that many things we do in healthcare that reduce the risk of death by fifty percent," said Dr. Chinazo Cunningham, Commissioner of NYS Office of Addiction Services and Supports.
