NEBRASKA (KCAU) — The state of Nebraska officially has a new state treasurer. Joey Spellerberg, 35, took the oath of office on Thursday as the state's 47th treasurer.

Spellerberg replaces Tom Briese, who resigned from the position earlier this week.
Spellerberg handles all financial aspects for the state, including Nebraska's Educational Savings Trust. He was previously the mayor of Fremont, a role he had held since 2020.
