NEW BEDFORD — Even though the GNB Voc-Tech boys soccer team won just 5 games and failed to make the playoffs a year ago, coach Henry Almeida had a feeling this year would be different when the group came together in the preseason.

“I said, ‘There is something special about this team,’” he recalled. “I didn’t know at the time, but they all play for each other. It’s a tight group.”
