OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The Council Bluffs Police Department reports a person is dead after they were hit by a car.

Police responded around 5:47 p.m. to an area near 8th Street and Kanesville Boulevard.

Council Bluffs police said the person was walking through the intersection when they were hit by the vehicle.

Investigators said alcohol, speed, and not following traffic signals are being investigated as possible factors in the crash.

Police said they will not release the identity of the victim until they notify the next of kin.
