A 14-year-old girl has been left "traumatised" after a brutal attack outside her school in Leeds. The incident occurred on 16 October, as the teenager was walking home from Cockburn John Charles Academy in Belle Isle. According to her mother, who wishes to remain anonymous, the girl was assaulted by a group of five girls and two boys. The attack was filmed, showing the victim being punched and kicked to the ground, with further footage capturing her being chased and assaulted. A family friend described the aftermath, stating, "She's been beaten up very badly, she's been traumatised." The friend revealed that the girl was threatened not to disclose the incident to anyone. The friend recounted how the girl's parents were initially unaware of the attack until a concerned mother, who had seen the video, informed the school. Following this, the school contacted the victim's mother to discuss the incident. The footage shows the girl being pushed to the ground and repeatedly struck in the head. The family is now worried about her mental health and safety, as she has expressed fear about returning to school. The friend noted, "I saw her today, she doesn't even talk. I was shocked, she's 14, she's been beaten up by five girls and filmed and everything." In response to the incident, Cockburn John Charles Academy stated, "We are aware of the incident that happened in the community. The school is working with West Yorkshire Police, who are dealing with this incident and we are appropriately supporting all involved." West Yorkshire Police confirmed they are investigating the assault, which reportedly took place on Old Run Road, Hunslet. A police spokesperson stated, "The incident, in which the victim suffered minor injuries, is being investigated by the Leeds District Investigations Team. Officers are aware that footage appearing to relate to this incident is circulating on social media and are making further enquiries into the circumstances." The family continues to seek support for the girl as they navigate the aftermath of this distressing event.
