In a fitting final goodbye to a man who dedicated his life for the promotion of various local folk art forms, several music and dance artistes dedicated a performance to Joravarsinh Jadav whom they fondly refer to as ‘Bhishma Pitama’ as they played folk music such as flute, shehnai, and danced along the 200-metre of their guru’s final journey in Ahmedabad on Friday.
Jadav, a popular and renowned folk artiste who has also written 110 books and was conferred the Padma Shri Award in 2019, died in Ahmedabad on Friday. He was 85. He is survived by his wife Hemkunvarba (78), four daughters and a son.
