NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. —

An armed student was forced to the ground Friday inside a South Carolina high school by a school resource officer, according to police.

The North Charleston Police Department said a student told another student he was carrying a gun. [related id='37056123-ada8-4713-8d9e-2226feb02d33' align='center' source=''][/related]

A staff member, who was alerted, then notified the school resource officer.

The SRO went to the cafeteria and found the student, who, when asked to remove his hands from his hoodie, admitted he had a gun.

The student was then safely detained and no one was injur
