Police have arrested two people who are accused of robbing an armored car driver outside a bank in Westport and they are searching for the gun they say the suspects tossed while they fled. While the search is ongoing, police warn residents that it could be on private property.

Police received a 911 call around 12:33 p.m. Thursday reporting an armed robbery at Wells Fargo Bank at 422 Post Road East.

They said they learned that two people who were wearing masks and all-black clothing had parked next to the armored van, pointed a gun at the driver after he had picked up a cash deposit from inside the bank, forced him to the ground and took the bank bag, the victim’s gun, keys, phone and a scanner.
