TUCUMCARI, N.M. (KFDA) - New Mexico State Police have arrested a Tucumcari man for charges related to a drive-by shooting.

The drive-by shooting happened on August 20.

The initial call indicated a vehicle was traveling east on Tucumcari Boulevard and opened fire on a commercial motor vehicle parked along the roadway.

The driver of the CMV sustained a graze wound to the back of the neck from a bullet.

Police say the suspect drove away immediately after the shooting.

Officers then found the suspect’s car abandoned near a cemetery off I-40, close to milepost 311.

Officers recovered DNA samples and spent shell casings from inside the vehicle.
