A woman has been hit with a "harmful substance" on a street in East Kilbride in a potentially "targeted" attack. ‌

The worrying incident took place shortly before 11am on Friday, November 7 when emergency services were alerted to a harmful substance having been thrown at a woman on Pine Crescent in the South Lanarkshire town. ‌

Police Scotland and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the scene and the 30-year-old woman was checked over. The extent of the victim's injuries is not yet known, but she is not believed to have been taken to hospital. ‌

Cops believe the attack was "targeted" and an investigation is currently underway in the area.

Earlier this evening, Hazmat teams were spotted on the street amid the ongoing incident.
