BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — American Airlines is reducing the number of flights from Dallas to the Northwest Arkansas National Airport (XNA) amid the ongoing federal government shutdown.

NBC News reported on Friday that American Airlines said it would be cutting two daily flights from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to XNA. The airline normally schedules 10 daily flights from DFW to Northwest Arkansas.

On Thursday, the Associated Press released a list of 40 U.S. airports facing 10% flight cuts due to the government shutdown and air traffic controller shortages. Although XNA was not on the list, more than half of the airports listed have direct flights from Bentonville to the destinations AP listed.
