ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - The ongoing government shutdown is hitting the brakes on travel plans.
Starting Friday, airlines have canceled hundreds of flights after the FAA ordered a 10% cut in air traffic at the nation’s busiest airports.
While the order does not specifically name our local airports, the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport is already feeling the impacts trickle down.
The airport saw three cancellations early Friday morning.
Those flights were coming from Charlotte, Atlanta and Washington Dulles, which are included in the 40 “high-volume” airports that will be impacted by the air traffic cuts.
