William Kennell Trinity Lutheran School Our country has been celebrating Veterans Day since 1919, and for a very good, right, and important reason. Veterans Day (originally Armistice Day,) was first celebrated on November 11, 1919, to remember the end of World War I and all who served. In 1938, an act of Congress made Armistice Day a national holiday. In 1954, Congress changed the name “Armistice Day” to “Veterans Day” to remember everyone who dedicated their lives to the freedom of this country, not just those who served in World War I. Every Veterans Day is important because this is what we remember.
We remember those who gave their lives, time with their families, and their physical well-being for this country, and for our freedom. Their many sacrifices will not be forgotten. As Abr
