(WIVT/WBGH) - Binghamton fallen firefighter John "J.R." Gaudet was honored on national television for his bravery and sacrifice.
The Fox Nation Patriot Awards took place last night in Long Island. Gaudet was killed on February 12th while battling a blaze that destroyed 1 Main Street in the city.
He was posthumously given the Stephen Siller Courage Award on behalf of the Tunnel to Towers foundation.
The organization previously paid off the mortgage on the Gaudet home. Gaudet left behind his wife Felly and 3 children. Felly accepted the award on his behalf.
She says John was known as J.R. to his friends, Coach to his lacrosse athletes, Johnny to her and Daddy to her kids.
