Omari Alante Stephens, a 17-year-old Killeen Independent School District student, who the Killeen ISD police department arrested on Wednesday at his home in connection with a Sept. 18 assault at Killeen High School, was released from the Bell County Jail after serving around a day and a half in custody.
“Following a review by the Bell County District Attorney’s Office, the case was filed as assault causing bodily injury,” KISD’s head spokeswoman Karen Rudolph wrote in an email to KDH News on Wednesday afternoon. “The student was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Bell County Jail.”
Stephens was booked into the county jail at 12:03 p.m. on Wednesday. He was charged with assault causing bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor, the most serious misdemeanor classificatio
