COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (KDVR) — Hundreds of families showed up the the Dick's Sporting Goods Field parking lot on Friday, for a mobile pantry pickup put on by the Food Bank of the Rockies.
"We come as need," said Revisha, a woman who came to pick up food. "We don’t want to take it away from people who need it more than us, but we are definitely feeling it now."
Several volunteers alongside United States Representative Diana DeGette lined up and bagged multiple food items to put in cars for people showing up.
"That whole parking lot was full of cars sitting waiting to pick up their boxes," said DeGette.
The need for food is greater now than ever before, according to DeGette. She said that with SNAP in limbo, people who have never used a food pantry before now have to.
