After decades of serving Emporia residents, Goodcents at 1004 E. 12th Ave. has closed its doors for good.

Known not only for its subs and pasta, the Emporia Goodcents also became a local family destination with go-karts, batting cages, miniature golf, and an arcade. In 2024, the go-karts and batting cages were removed to make way for a new Dollar Tree location.

“When I was a kid, the first place I went after school was Goodcents to get a sandwich and hit the batting cages,” Bryce Collins said in a Facebook post. “It was the best.”

A sign posted on the restaurant’s door thanks customers for their “loyalty and kindness over the years” and confirms the closure took place Friday.
