KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) - Waco brewery, Southern Roots Brewing Company, opened another location in Killeen this and that has already won an award.

Southern Roots and the City of Killeen were awarded Texas Downtown 2025 President’s Award for Best Economic Game Changer.

Southern Roots owner Dustin Evans is a veteran born and raised in Killeen.

So, opening a new location downtown this year was a big opportunity.

“I saw the excitement, and the passion, and the direction that downtown Killeen was heading,” said Evans. “I know it would be a mistake to not get on board.”

Multiple locations is a long way from Southern Roots’ humble beginnings that start with father son bonding time.
