GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) -- Tuesday's election reshaped the Greensboro City Council as we know it.
Voters not only elected Marikay Abuzuaiter as the city's new mayor, but some city council members' seats are newcomers.
Irving Allen is one of the candidates who won the at-large race for Greensboro City Council.
The 39-year-old was born in Greensboro, attended Guilford County Public Schools and attended North Carolina A&T State University.
Allen says he's no stranger to running for office.
"I ran in 2017 for the first time. Didn't make it out of the primary the first time ... I really learned a lot about the community ... Organizing here for 14 years," Allen said.
Allen says he has worked with numerous social justice organizations, such as The Beloved Community Center and Ignite NC.
