Light rail service on Sound Transit’s 1 Line was suspended after a train crashed into a car turning onto the railway. Service has resumed, but travelers should expect delays.

The car made an illegal left turn when it was struck by the train between the Rainier Beach and Othello stations around 3:30 p.m. Friday, Sound Transit spokesperson David Jackson said.

Minor injuries were reported, none from aboard the train, Jackson said. The condition of the car’s passengers is unknown.

Meanwhile, service between Mount Baker Station and Rainier Beach Station was suspended. Service resumed before 5 p.m.

The train is still operational but service is delayed while the car is extracted from the front of the train, Jackson said.
