OKLAHOMA CITY (KNWA/KFTA) — An Oklahoma official said on Tuesday that all of the state's highway patrol troopers are now credentialed under the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Oklahoma Department of Safety Commissioner Tim Tipton gave the announcement during a presser at the 2025 Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP) Commanders Meeting in Oklahoma City.
Tipton said all Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers are now authorized through ICE's 287(g) agreement, which allows them to detain, question and process undocumented immigrants encountered during enforcement operations.
