PORTLAND, Ore. — Are you an organ, eye or tissue donor? If not, a local nonprofit wants you to consider becoming one.

This year, Donate Life Northwest is celebrating 50 years, educating people and advocating for organ donation.

Roughly 275 people attended the nonprofit's "Lifesavers Breakfast" this week in Northeast Portland. The theme of the fundraiser was "For Good," a nod to the musical "Wicked."

Laura Ellsworth, executive director of Donate Life Northwest, said the average wait time for a kidney in our area is five years. In addition to organ donation, eye and tissue donors also make a huge difference.
