WHITE BLUFF, Tenn. (WSMV) - A Dickson County middle school was placed on a brief lockdown on Friday for reports of an armed man near the school, according to Dickson County Sheriff Tim Eads.

Eads said William James Middle School was placed on a brief lockdown Friday afternoon for reports of a man with a sword.

The man reportedly never stepped onto school grounds, and the White Bluff Police Department was able to locate and speak with him.

According to Eads, the man had a knife and was walking on a public roadway.
