A man was arrested Friday morning while detectives were executing a search warrant at his Morris County home where drugs and a cache of guns were found, investigators said.
The man was discovered inside a steel door-fortified bedroom of the Lake Hopatcong home which had numerous surveillance cameras both inside and outside of it, according to a statement from the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.
When the officers entered the bedroom, John B. Scavone, 32, tried to take one of their rifles as he resisted arrest but police were able to detain him without anyone being seriously injuried, the office said.
Officers seized five guns from the home, including a stolen Glock G26 9mm and a Glock 10mm that had an attached “switch” allowing it to be an automatic weapon, authorities said.
