No. 3 seed Seneca advanced to the NJSIAA/Xfinity Central Jersey, Group 3 championship game with a 28-7 semifinal win against No. 7 seed Matawan in Tabernacle.
Junior quarterback Anthony Tirico once again led the way for Seneca with four rushing touchdowns. He has 32 combined passing and rushing TDs this season.
The Golden Eagles scored the game’s final 21 points to book a spot in a sectional final for the fourth consecutive season. Seneca lost the South Jersey, Group 3 final in each of the past two seasons.
Matawan’s season ends with a 6-5 record.
Seneca (9-2) goes on the road to face No. 1 seed Holmdel in the CJG3 title game on Nov. 14.
