Kentwood wide receiver/defensive back Chance Briggs had a first quarter to remember, and the rest of the night wasn’t shabby either as the Kangaroos won at Central Private 44-14 in a District 9-1A game that was the regular-season finale for both teams.
Briggs caught touchdown passes of 17 and 66 yards and intercepted a pass to end a Central Private threat to help Kentwood go up 14-0 after the first quarter.
The rough night for Central Private started on the opening kickoff. A Redhawks player had the kick hit his leg and ricochet toward the sideline, where it was recovered by Kentwood. Three plays later, Briggs scored his first touchdown.
