MADISON (WKOW) — Four Madison Metropolitan School District schools have upgraded their security systems at the entrances.

The upgrades include multiple ID checks before entering. An electronic system prompts visitors why they are at the school and who they need to see.

So far, Leopold, Olsen, Muir, and Lindbergh Elementary Schools have completed the upgrades, while Midvale is under construction. MMSD expects Midvale to be finished by Thanksgiving Break.

"We will now have better access and better control to visitor entry, student attendance, and staff entry. So we just have increased peace of mind. We just know it is an extra layer of support and safety for our amazing staff and our amazing families and students," said Gwendolyn Frank, Midvale Elementary principal.
