CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Kirtland Hornets advanced in the Division VI, Region 21 playoffs Friday with a dominant 41-3 victory over the Wickliffe Blue Devils, powered by a punishing rushing attack that accumulated 313 yards on the ground.
John Silvestro carried the offensive load, rushing for 172 yards on 15 carries and scoring five touchdowns to lead the Hornets to the quarterfinal win. His scoring runs came from distances of 2, 1, 55, 3, and 20 yards throughout the game.
Kirtland (11-0), the top seed in Region 21, advances to face No. 5 Smithville (10-2) in next Friday’s regional semifinal. Wickliffe ends its season 9-3.
