As a food writer, I often get the question "do you like Taco Bell?"
It's as if — once people figure out I review food establishments for a living — they need to hear that I love the late-night grease joint; that a professional eater thinks the Mexican-American chain is worth going to.
Perhaps, I assume, my stamp of approval will give them the permission they need to publicly declare their own infatuation with it (or give them a person to blame if anyone judges them for going; I.E.; "It's not bad! Even the food critic likes it!"
