Six-seed Paul VI broke a two-game skid by starting off the NJSIAA/Xfinity Non-Public, Group B Tournament with a 42-19 victory over 11-seed St. Joseph (Hamm.) in Haddonfield.
Senior quarterback Daulton Phalines tossed a touchdown pass to both Tyree Roane and Kevin Bunt during the victory.
Senior Nick Ried shined on both sides of the ball for the Eagles, recording a 10-yard rushing touchdown in the contest and all returning an interception 77 yards for a score.
Jake Andrewlevich had an interception return for a touchdown as well for Paul VI, which recorded three defensive touchdowns in the contest.
Paul VI (5-4) will travel out to Red Bank next Friday to take on three-seed Red Bank Catholic in the quarterfinals of the state tournament.
St. Joseph (Hamm.) ends the season with a mark of 7
