An academic has told an employment tribunal - brought by nurses who oppose a transgender colleague using female changing rooms - that women are more sensitive than men about undressing in front of the opposite sex.

As previously reported, seven nurses are bringing a claim against County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust after Rose Henderson, who was born male but who identifies as a woman, was allowed to use the women's changing facilities at Darlington Memorial Hospital.

Professor Jo Phoenix produced a report for the claimants which was formally submitted to the employment tribunal on Friday. The University of Reading criminologist said she had spent 35 years researching gender and justice.
