A medical centre has been ordered to improve following a damning inspection. Lanchester Medical Centre in Lanchester, County Durham, has been rated inadequate following a visit by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The centre on Durham Road is run by Dr Harpreet Singh Kalra and provides services to approximately 4,100 people. It has been placed into special measures to protect people following an inspection from July to August this year.
The inspection was carried out following concerns received from whistleblowers and people using the practice. It was the first inspection since the service was registered with the CQC.
