FULTON — Fulton Public Schools has established a partnership with the Callaway County Ambulance District to create an EMT program to allow high school students to learn advanced EMT skills.

The program gives high school students the skills to obtain an EMT license, which is required in Missouri to become an EMT technician. A similar program exists through Columbia Public Schools, operated by the Columbia Area Career Center.

"Our goal is to have these kids where they can basically be ready to work after the class and after they graduate high school," said Charles Anderson, chief of the Callaway County Ambulance District.

According to an agreement with the Ambulance District, students can enter the program their senior year.
